Changes are coming to Rite Aid

I had an interesting experience at Rite Aid tonight. We heard that changes were coming and I think this effected my shopping trip tonight. I think changes might be happening sooner than anticipated.
I went in to buy 2 packs of Pamper's diapers. Here is what it looked like:
Pampers cruisers $9.99 x2 = $19.98
-used $3/$15 survey coupon
-used (2) $1.50/1 pampers from 6/5 P&G
-tried to use a $4.00 +up from a previous Pamper's purchase.

The register didn't like my $4.00 +up and was rejecting it saying I didn't make a qualifing purchase. WHAT??
My cashier called a manager over. Her comment was "the registers shouldn't be doing this already". So she pushed it through for me.
She also told me that most +up rewards in the future will only be valid on Rite Aid brand purchases. So that would really put an end to rolling our +up rewards!
So my best guess on this is that Rite Aid is going to have some pretty strict rules set in place on how to spend +up rewards.

We don't really know what is going on for sure, but just be aware that you might run into some issues when shopping at Rite Aid for a little while. We will try to find out a little more about this and will definantly keep you all up to date!

  1. What did you expect to happen? I am sorry but they -had- to be loosing money on those.

I completely agree with you. They were probably losing some money with the +ups but not too much since most of the +up coupons are manufacturer coupons and they are reimbursed for them. I think we have all been expecting some changes and couponing is all about adjusting to change. Here at Savvy with Savings we want to keep our readers informed of all these changes. This way there are no surprises when you get to the store!
